R's House Studio
Project 3: Space for the Self
MY CITY DREAMSPACE
This project is to design a dreamspace for yourself by ‘grafting’ or engaging it to the walls
of an imagined “city” on an empty abandoned plot.
Site Model
The site model that were made based on the site in 'The Fifth Element' movie. The movie is about a era of modern and futuristic with all high rise building.

Final Model Design Intention
(Character)
R's House Studio is designed for Ruby Rhod who is the radio show host of the future. He is the famous radio DJ in the galaxy with a quarter of the Federated Territories population listening to his show. He is a culture connoisseur extraordinaire. Full of life and energy, with an eccentric personality, he will go to the extreme to put the best show possible for his 50 billion listeners. He has a very modern and futuristic sense of his fashion. In the movie, he teams up with Korben Dallas (main character) and Leeloo (main character) against a big ball of evil.
(Design)
With the passion of Ruby in his job as a radio DJ, I have designed a house studio for him. A radio studio where his work place also as public space and a rest area which is a private space for him to rest well. This is a contrast of two space. In order to differentiate the space, I have rised the floor level of the radio studio to create a boundary between two spaces to show the hierarchy of space. I have designed some opening to play with the natural lighting in the building to enchance the contrastive of these two spaces. Well, I have also used linear design for the house studio to fit into the alley on the site.

Learning Outcome
Through this project, I have learned to design and produce a space that embodies and expresses an idea or conceptual narrative. I also have learned to distinguish and discern the role of scale and proportion in the relationship between the human body and a designed space or enclosure. Then, I have learned to identify, articulate and apply basic design principles in spatial organization and relationships.
Besides, I have learned to select and apply materials to embody and enhance the sensory experience of the space. So, I have applied what I have learned in Building Materials module in this project. At last, I have also learned to create, articulate and illustrate the poetics of spatial quality.
After the presentation, I noticed that I have not explore the character enough in detail. So, I will make more efford to master the skills in designing space.
