Gropius House by Walter Gropius

Project 1: Precedent Studies 

     The project gives us the opportunity to work with a group of peers to investigate the Architecture of Modern Masters. The project is designed to increase our ability to analyse visual evidence with specific reference to Modern Masters as precedent studies.  

     My group mates and I were analyzing on Gropius House by Walter Gropius. We have analysed spatial organization, structure, materials and construction, components, massing and external facade of Gropius House. We have compiled these analysis in essay form and a presentation board for visually by composing factual information and descriptive sketches.

Learning Outcome 

     Throughout this project, I have increased my understanding on the principle, ideas and contributing factors of the architecture of Modern Masters: Ludwig Mies Van Der Rohe, Le Corbusier, Frank Lloyd Wright and Walter Gropius by learning from the project outcome from the whole classmate by analysing architecture of these four Modern Master. Besides, I have learned to analyse and identify specific architectural features in terms of space planning, technology, details, form and the aesthetics of the architecture of Modern Masters. I have also learned how to create understanding in my audience visually by composing factual information and descriptive sketches on a presentation board which is my group’s presentation board of Gropius House by Walter Gropius.
