Sky Park @ One City

Project 1: Case Study: Analysing passive design strategies

This project allow us to identify and define the principles of heat transfer in relation to building and people. Besides, it also help us to understand what is thermal comfort and related factors and analyze the effect of thermal comfort factors in a person and in a space. Passive design does not require mechanical heating or cooling. So, buildings that are passively designed take advantage of natural climate to maintain thermal comfort.

Learning Outcome

Throughout this project, I have learned to identify environmental conditions related to site conditions, climate, orientation, etc. Natural ventilation and roof pond system are the passive design strategies of Sky Park @ One City which affect the thermal factors. I have understand the effect of sun, insulation, thermal mass, air movement and temperature control on the thermal performance of buildings. This is a project that give the opportunity to learn by real experiencing and case study of an existing building.

In this project, I have learned the important of passive design in architecture and the role of an architect to design a building with passive design strategies to contribute for our living environment.
